Link Direction Conventions

Considering the relations as tables, the URR link concept can be visualized as a connection between a specific row in one relation to a specific row in the same or another table. These links are directional, that is, one of the entries is the source, and the other the target of the link. The directionality of the links should be chosen such that it follows the value chain from original Earth observations down to end users. For example, if an application depends on a requirement, the requirement should be the source and the application the target. If an application produces a data set described through a Requirements entry, then the Applications entry should be the source and the Requirements entry the target.

The URR aims to capture user types that are benefiting from the information produced by an application and normally, they should be the target of a link with an application or a requirement as the source.
